The agriculture and food sector in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi is undergoing significant development and transformation, driven by the forward-looking vision and unwavering support of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, may Allah protect him. His Highness has made food security a national priority and a key driver of sustainable development. this approach has helped build a more productive, sustainable and resilient agriculture and food sector, underpinned by innovation, advanced technologies and the efficient use of resources.
In line with this vision, the Agricultural Transformation Strategy in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, approved by His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the UAE, Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Presidential Court, and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA), sets out an ambitious roadmap for transforming the agricultural sector through to 2040. Guided by the principle of “Grow More with Less", the strategy seeks to balance growth with sustainability. it focuses on increasing productivity and self-sufficiency, improving the efficiency of natural resource use, accelerating the adoption of advanced technologies and fostering innovation, and building a more resilient and sustainable agriculture and food system.
As part of this transformation, ADAFSA has launched its new corporate identity, marking an important stage in its transformation journey and reflecting its vision of “Global Leadership in Food Security". The identity provides a unified framework that brings together sustainable agriculture, food safety and biosecurity within an integrated system designed to help ensure a safe and sustainable food supply while strengthening the sector's preparedness for future demands.
We believe that achieving the agricultural transformation targets is a shared responsibility requiring the concerted efforts of government entities, the private sector, academic and research institutions, farmers and producers. Effective partnerships are essential to developing innovative solutions, encouraging investment, building capabilities, and strengthening the sector's competitiveness and sustainability.
Our ambition extends beyond meeting today's needs to building a more sustainable and resilient food system for future generations. Through collaboration and continuous innovation, we will continue to strengthen Abu Dhabi's position as a global model for food security and sustainable agricultural development, in line with the Authority's slogan: “Global Leadership in Food Security".
