ROBOCROP is an intelligent robotic system for in-farm labor-intensive operations crafted for Date Palm Trees specifically and can be adapted to other applications that shares similar operational challenges. The system consists of different components to enable the robot to autonomously navigate the farm, locate the subject tree, and carry-out farming operations, such as, harvesting, servicing (trimming), pollination, vaccination, inspection, … etc. The main subsystems are: 1) a ground mobile manipulator robot with its onboard instrumentation and computation and 2) a detachable climbing robot with adaptive mechanism to perform the required operations.
