Abu Dhabi, August 24, 2010: A public interest photo exhibition held by Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority was kicked off on Monday, August 23 at the capital's Khalidiya Mall, depicting pictures of food safety scenarios before and after the Authority's inspectors began their rigorous inspections at food establishments.

Khalfia Ahmed Al Ali, Executive Director for the Strategic Planning and Performance Management at ADFCA, opened the exhibition in front of the Lulu Hypermarket at the mall, in the presence of senior officials from ADFCA and the MK Group. The exhibition will last for one week and will move to Mazyad Mall in Musaffah afterwards.

A spokesperson from ADFCA said the exhibition was aimed at raising food safety awareness among the public. "The idea behind this exhibition is also to bring to the attention of the people the impact that ADFCA food safety inspections made on food businesses in the emirate. The pictures displayed demonstrate the extent to which the food safety situation was turned around by our inspectors in a rather short period of time," he pointed out.

"Apart from the food safety awareness angle, this exhibition is also a remarkable example of public private partnerships for the greater common good. The MK Group has been extremely cooperative when we mooted the idea of a joint effort toward raising food safety awareness in the emirate," he added.
