Abu Dhabi, July 27, 2010: Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority has opened channels of communication with Islamic organizations in all the countries that export meat to Abu Dhabi. The establishment of contact with the religious bodies is to ascertain the animals are slaughterd in these countries according to the Islamic rules concerning that sphere. The Authority is sending representatives from the Meat and Animal Production Units to conduct surprise visits to slaughter houses and animal production companies in countries that export meat to Abu Dhabi. The visits are meant to ensure that the Islamic rules of Halal slaughter is strictly followed in these places. The Islamic organizations with which the Authority liaises are authorized to issue certificates to companies confirming that they slaughter animals in the halal way. In case of any violations with regard to the halal processes, the certificates are withheld.
