ADFCA Intensifies Pre-Ramadan Food Inspection Campaign in Abu Dhabi
Campaign today at 52 Bakeries and confectionaries resulted in 39 warnings and detection of two violations
In a major inspection campaign targeting bakeries and confectionaries in the city of Abu Dhabi, Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority's inspection units visited 52 shops in different parts of the capital, issued 39 food safety warnings and detected 2 violations. A total of 11 shops were found in full compliance with the mandatory safety standards.
In view of the imminent Ramadan season and with a view to make sure the consumers will not face food risks during the holy month, the various inspections units of the Authority have intensified inspections at all types of food outlets.
Ramadan being a season for brisk and increased business for the outlets, it is vitally important not to leave any chance for food safety violations, said a spokesperson from the Authority. "Our objective is to let the public welcome the holy month of Ramadan with absolutely no apprehensions about the foods they buy and consume. We also want the food establishments to be extremely sensitive to the hygienic and safety concerns of the public.
We are happy that the number of violations is progressively declining over the past several months, thanks to the increased awareness on the part of the consumers and the establishment owners and staff as well as the relentless focus of our inspection units on detecting even remote chances of negligence and non-compliance with the regulations," he pointed out.
