Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority (ADFCA) held a forum with farm owners in Al Nahda in Abu Dhabi in coordination with the Environment Authority Abu Dhabi and the Public Parks Management Division of Abu Dhabi Municipality.
HE Engineer Mubarak Ali Al Mansouri, Executive Director of Agriculture Affairs at ADFCA, opened the forum. He welcomed the participants and drew attention to the efforts being made by the Government of Abu Dhabi to promote the agriculture sector in the emirate and to utilize all the sources of water in an exemplary manner.
The forum focused on educating the farm owners about modern irrigation systems used in farms. They were also told about the project for taking advantage of treated sewage water. The project, the first of its kind in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, will be implemented in the Al Nahda area during the next three months as the first phase.
A good number of farm owners and farm managers took part in the form and appreciated the initiatives. The officials who spoke stressed that the treated and disinfected water produced as part of the project and used for irrigation was safe and of good quality. They also emphasized that the treatment of water was done using the latest scientific methods and under the supervision of approved international companies, besides ADFCA's oversight. They made it clear that such water did not pose any health risk to humans or animals.
