In an inspection campaign targeting meat, fish and poultry outlets as well as vehicles transporting meat and fish in Madinat Zayed in the Western Region on Monday, March 11, 2013, inspectors of the Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority (ADFCA) have found near total levels of compliance with food safety rules and regulations.

Only five warnings were issued during the wide ranging campaign which included 27 targets, comprising 12 fish outlets, nine meat shops, two poultry shops and 4 vehicles. No cases were charged against violations.

Mohamed Jalal Al Rayssi, Director of Communication and Community Service at ADFCA, said the results of the inspection campaign reflected the hard work and uncompromising diligence of ADFCA's inspectors in the Western Region. "The warnings issued during the campaign pertained mostly to storage issues, leading to temperature fluctuations inside the freezers.  However, I would like to emphasize that the remarkable improvement in food safety situation is as much a result of the awareness efforts on the part of the inspectors as on the punitive measures," he concluded.
