A delegation from Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority visited farms in the Al Tayyiba region to assess animal breeding in them. The delegation consisted of Engineer Ahmed Mohammed, Manager of the Animal Welfare and Extension Services, Dr. Hamid Ragab, Dr. Faisal Baraka, both extension services specialists, Ahmed Al Rumaithi, Manager, Veterinary Control Department in Abu Dhabi and Dr. Khalafullah Al Amin, Veterinarian at the Veterinary Clinic.
The delegation imparted awareness to the farm owners on good practices in the farms, such as the need for a separate storehouse for fodder, allocation of separate space to house sick animal, keeping male and female sheep after fecundation, methods of dealing with sick animals, their medication, the preservation of medicines, methods of proper feeding at different stages of growth and the preparations for the fecundation season.
The farm owners were also told about the techniques for increasing productivity. Questions from them on a number of subjects were also answered by ADFCA experts.
