Inspectors of Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority detailed 33 vehicles for violating the rules and regulations governing the transportation of food items.

This happened during an inspection campaign which targeted 122 vehicles. The campaign was conducted in association with the patrol teams of Abu Dhabi Police. Around 26 KG of food items was destroyed during the campaign as well.

The reasons for the detention of vehicles varied. Some of the vehicles had expired food transportation permits and some others did not have licenses at all. In some others, excessive quantities of food were packed to such an extent that it affected the cooling systems, exposing the foods to contamination. Since inappropriate transportation of foods is a major cause for food risks, the Authority is focusing a good deal of attention on this aspect. The vehicles used for transporting various types of food products have to have certain standards and specifications, which vary according to the type of food.
