The Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority promotes UAE dates internationally

Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority (ADFCA) is participating at SIAL China 2012 which kicked off today, May 9, in the city of Shanghai. The exhibition will last till 11th May 2012.
The delegation, representing ADFCA and the Department of Economic Development, toured the exhibition headed by HE Rashed Mohamed Al Shariqi, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority and HE Noura Mohammed Juma, the UAE's Consul General in Shanghai - China. The tour included a brief on various international companies participating at the exhibition along with the latest techniques and food products offered.
The delegation was given a comprehensive presentation from various UAE companies participating in the exhibition under ADFCA�s sponsorship; which discussed products they offer along with their benefits, and ways to employ such global forums for marketing local products and to attract traders and buyers from different markets.
HE Noura Mohammed Juma highlighted ADFCA�s participation and its role in strengthening the global presence of UAE dates and the UAE�s value as a strategic producer, especially in Abu Dhabi; since dates occupy a pride of place for the UAE on the international level.
Commenting on this occasion, HE Rashed Mohamed Al Shariqi said: "We have, under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mansoor bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister of the UAE, Minister of Presidential Affairs and Chairman of Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority, ensured the participation of the largest dates companies in the UAE, such as Al Foah Company, Liwa Dates, , Emirates Delight Dates Factory and Royal Dates Company in order to promote them to global food companies at high standards and highlight the enormous benefits of dates.�
�This participation will open a new gateway to promote UAE dates in other markets. The participants will get the opportunity to meet with international traders and businessmen working in the food industry, introduce them to the distinctive UAE dates along with their benefits which will create opportunities to market this product as one of the UAE's main agricultural products,� He added.
Al Sharqi emphasized the permanent availability of dates in the UAE; this distinctive product derived from locally grown palm trees. SIAL China is a highly specialized exhibition in the food sector which had been embraced by the UAE in the past two years along with the Emirates International Date Palm Festival.
ADFCA Pavilion hosts some of UAE�s largest date production companies such as Al Foah Company, Liwa Dates, Emirates Delight Dates Factory and Royal Dates Company. Besides, ADFCA will distribute a number of brochures and booklets on dates to visitors, giving them background information on this fruit and its huge benefits.
