A delegation from Ras Al Khaima Municipality visited Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority to gain a firsthand understanding of the pioneering functioning of ADFCA's laboratories in the sphere of food safety monitoring and their state of the art programs and mechanisms for conducting analysis and testing samples.

Led by Fawwas Yousef Abdullah, the head of food safety monitoring at Ras Al Khaima Municipality and accompanied by a number of officials from the department, the delegation was received at ADFCA by high ranking officials, including Dr. Salama Al Muhairi, Acting Director of the Laboratories Division and other officials.

The delegation was briefed on the objectives of the Laboratories Division for guaranteeing food safety through tests and analyses necessary to ensure the quality of food materials and their compliance with the standards and specifications prevalent in the country.

The delegation also went through the processes through which ADFCA's laboratories managed to win international recognition. UKAS has conferred this year 13 approvals for raising the number of approved analyses to 108, conducted in the laboratories in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain.

The officials from Ras Al Khaima were also briefed on other aspects of the laboratories' work, including the implementation of Integrated Management System and other salient features. The visit came in the framework of mutual cooperation and strategic partnership between government entities in order to enhance the levels of performance and to learn from each other.
