Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister of the UAE, Minister of Presidential Affairs and Chairman of Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority (ADFCA) chaired the meeting of the Authority's governing board yesterday evening.
The board has approved the proposed budget for 2013 and reviewed the external auditor's report. The board also reviewed and approved the proposal for a guide on delegation of authority based on Article 4 of the Law No. 6 of 2008 on the procurement of tenders and bids. The board reviewed the policy for fighting fraudulent practices in light of the initiative of ADFCA for more accountability based on the best practices to control fraud and financial and administrative corruption.
In regard to collective irrigation activity, the board ordered the formation of a joint committee representing ADFCA, Environment Authority and the Municipal Affairs Authority. It also approved the formation of a working group for corporate support to assist in various services of ADFCA and in providing job opportunities for national.
The board reviewed the periodical report on the Environment, Health and Safety Management System. It praised the efficiency of the vaccination program against contagious diseases and the efforts expended for it, which contributed to disease control and better immunity among animals in the emirate. The board ordered the formation of a joint committee with Municipal Affairs Department to regulate the sale and circulation of pesticides in the emirate.
HH Sheikh Mansour called upon all ADFCA management staff to preserve the accomplishments made so far while trying to achieve more in the days to come. He stressed the importance of the role that ADFCA plays, especially since it takes care of food across all the stages � from the farm to the fork � for the betterment of the society and for achieving environmental sustainability.
