Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority has organized an awareness lecture on food safety and healthy foods for girl students of ninth standards at Al Manhal Canadian School in Abu Dhabi.
The lecture was part of a series of awareness programs held by the Authority targeting different sections of the society with a view to raise food safety consciousness among the consumers.
Dr. Hafiz Ibrahim, who gave the lecture, provided a summary of the best methods of dealing with foods, including the best ways of choosing safe food, cooking and preparation. He also spoke to the students about the correct ways of circulating and transporting food items in order to protect from food-borne diseases. He also detailed on food poisoning and its various aspects.
Dr. Ibrahim drew attention to the perils of fast foods, especially against the backdrop of their increased consumption among the youngsters. He said fast foods would cause obesity, in addition to other health problems, while vegetables, fruits and natural juices lead to healthy life.
With the help of visual illustration, the speaker taught the ways of choosing safe food products, particularly fish and meat.
