The Animal Wealth Sector of Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority took part in the second Al Ghayathi Camel Show Festival in the Western Region held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Western Region.
On behalf of the sector, the Animal Welfare & Extension Services Section and Veterinary Services Section-Western Region participated in the festival in pursuit of the Authority's goals of contribution in cultural and social events and of assist farmers to maintain farms in sustainable ways with fair income.
ADFCA officials distributed awareness materials among the attendees explaining the role of the Authority in guaranteeing animal health in a way that serves the strategic priorities through ensuring food supply and food safety for the emirate.
Veterinarians from the Veterinary Services Section-Western Region took part in the judging committee tasked with checking the animals that the committee suspected of been treated with banned veterinary drugs. They also provided medical care for animals taking part in the festival and owned by citizens or participants from other GCC states.
It is to be mentioned that the organizing committee of the Camel Show Festival had laid down a number of conditions for qualifying camels for participation in the festival. These conditions included the animals to be of pure breeds (cross-bred animals not allowed) and non-participation in any of the previous contests. Similarly, the stipulations for the winning animals included all yardsticks of beauty.
