Following many months of planning, development and implementation, ADFCAs Environmental, Health and Safety Management System (EHSMS) has been recognized by Abu Dhabi Environment Agency with a Certificate of Approval.
The AD EHSMS project was developed under the requirements of Decree No. (42) of 2009 issued by H.H Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Executive Council on 16th June 2009.
Mohamed Jalal Al Reyaysa, Director of Communication and Community Service at ADFCA, said the approval from the Environment Agency reinforced ADFCAs commitment to ensure the safety, welfare and health of all its employees and stakeholders and the preservation of the emirate's natural resources for future generations. "It is therefore quite logical that the Authority has also been entrusted the responsibility for implementing the EHSMS in the food sector in the emirate. This is very much in consonance with the work we are doing as the government entity in charge of food safety," he explained.
The EHS management system is an integrated system that covers all aspects of ADFCA, including emergency Preparedness, management of contractors, process and production, hazard management and first aid. The recent opening of ADFCAs first aid room, one of the first government entities to have such a facility, was a step in the direction of achieving health and safety of the staff and visitors at work place. ADFCA is a member of the National Higher Committee to follow up on the development and implementation of the EHSMS in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
