Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority (ADFCA) has called upon cattle breeders and animal farm owners in the emirate to make their presence strongly felt in the local markets during the Eid Al Adha and to bring in more dynamism. The Authority said it was a good opportunity to market their cattle and help the consumers get more choices to buy.

Mohamed Jalal Al Reyaysa, Director of Communication and Community Service at ADFCA said the cattle breeders must take advantage of the festive occasion to increase the market presence of their products which will be beneficial for them as well as for the consumers. "It will provide the believers who offer their sacrifices with good breeds of animals and bring in the much needed balance between demand and supply," he pointed out.

"This is especially true in light of the fact that the demand is now more on the imported cattle due to the limited number of local cattle. Since they are available in limited numbers, their prices are higher.  If this gap could be bridged, it will give the consumers better choices at more reasonable prices," Al Reyaysa said.

"We are of the view that local breeders of cattle should use the dynamism in the cattle market during the Eid days to improve their income and market their products better. The cattle bred locally are of high quality because of the various services offered by ADFCA to the breeders, such as the Identification and Registration System, vaccinations against diseases and spraying against external parasites. The regular medical checkups and treatment given by ADFCA's veterinarians also contributed substantially to the enhancement in the quality of locally bred cattle," he stressed.
