The Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority has seized from various outlets the 250ml bottles of Vimto fruit drink which was reported to be containing contaminants. The inspectors of the Authority conducted intensive inspections during the past two days to look for the product and seize it if found. The product is being distributed in the UAE by Aujan Industries Company.

Saeed Jasim Mohamed, Acting Director of Communication and Community Service at ADFCA said the seizure of the product was initiated following a statement from the Ministry of Environment and Water. "Samples of the product from Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and the Western Region have been brought by the inspectors and sent to the laboratories for further tests. In the meantime, inspections are still ongoing to make sure the markets in the emirate are free from the contaminated product," he explained.

Saeed Jasem also said that the Authority had called the supplier of the product and asked him to make sure the contaminated product was completely recalled from the market. "We call upon the public to let us know if they chance upon the said product or any other unsafe food products in the shelves in any outlet in the emirate. Our toll free number is 80055," he added.
