The Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority has announced Zadna characters have visited over 27 schools distributed between Abu Dhabi and Al Ain. The visits come along with the Zadna food safety campaign for children launched by Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority earlier this month.

The Zadna characters have continued during their visits to give important food safety tips and giveaways that benefit the children. They have also distributed over 25,000 DVDs of the Zadna cartoon series.

The Zadna campaign will start its school visits tomorrow in the Western Region. As a part of the campaign in the western region a visit will be paid to humanitarian care and special needs school. A branded stand will also be available at City Mall in the Western Region on March 16th and 17th. The visits will then return to Abu Dhabi to complete the rest of its campaign until March 22nd 2012.

The Zadna campaign launched by Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority has witnessed great enthusiasm and excitement among the children and the parents. The branded stand set-up at Marina Mall Abu Dhabi and Jimi Mall in Al Ain has allowed the children to interact with the cartoon characters and further benefit from the food safety tips and gifts disseminated.

Ali Yousef Al Saad, Acting Director of Communication and Community Service at ADFCA said: We have received positive feedback from the Zadna food safety campaign and this alone encourages continuing in the path which we have followed. We all hope that we gain the benefits of this campaign and children stick to good practices in dealing with food. During this campaign we aimed to emphasize on the risks of dealing with bad food and enable children to choose the best food practices which will help further enhance their health.

ï¿½The Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority has and will continue to launch campaigns to do with safe shopping methods, and food storage practices that will target different parts of the emirate to reach the target in which ADFCA has been created for. We ask each and every single person as a part of this society to contribute to healthy food practices when shopping, cooking and storing food He added.

Zadna has targeted children because it is well known that children at this age and all the tips and guidance that they will receive will stick with them and they will pass them on to their peers and parents

Zadna campaign is part of ADFCAs ongoing educational and awareness programmes aimed to educate the public on food safety methods. It is in line with ADFCAs belief that food safety is a shared responsibility that requires positive interaction and active participation by all sections of the community.

Activities kick started with school visit by the characters of Zadna episodes which target kids aged 5-10 years aimed to provide them with food tips such as validity, negative and positive habits, contaminated food and effects of additives in a fun and exciting manner that help kids absorb information directly and indirectly.
