A comprehensive combing operation conducted by the inspectors of Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority (ADFCA) during the past few days confirmed that the markets did not have the chocolate needles recently marketed widely through communication networks.

Ali Al Saad, acting Director of Communication and Community Service at ADFCA said the product in question did not conform to the standards and specifications for food packing prevalent in Abu Dhabi and could potentially cause cross contamination.  "Since the chocolate paste in the product is orally consumed from the needle, it is quite risky. We call upon the public not to consume this product and report to the Authority through the toll free number 800555 or social media sites facebook/adfca and twitter/adfca in case they find it anywhere in the emirate.  We warn against any attempt at infiltrating the product to the Emirate of Abu Dhabi either from within the country or from abroad as it poses significant threats to the health of the consumers," he added.
