Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority (ADFCA) has organized a two-day exhibition of books under the title "Our Knowledge is our Identity, on October 10&11, 2012.

Among the highlights of the event was the presence of Emirati writer Sultan Al Umaimi, who autographed copies of his short story collection. The visitors to the exhibition, besides ADFCA staff, included girl students from the Al Bateen School which is run by the Family Development Foundation in Abu Dhabi.

HE Adel Khalfan Al Za'abi, Executive Director for Animal Wealth sector at ADFCA, inaugurated the event in the presence of a number senior officials and staff of the Authority.

Sultan al Umaimi said the event was a constructive initiative on the part of ADFCA to encourage its staff and visitors to read and gain knowledge. "The invitation sent out to schools and writers is a valuable step toward encouraging Emirati writers. I hope all government organizations will emulate the example of ADFCA by hosting similar events which will support and country's cultural progress," he added.

Mohamed Jalal Al Reyaysa, Director of Communication and Community Service at ADFCA, said the Authority always strived to keep in touch with the society through various events targeting all sections. "This is in addition to the community services which are part of our immediate mission. We try to reach out through cultural and social events too, especially those relating to special needs people. We have evolved an integrated program for community services called Auwn.  Through this program, we try to extent our support and assistance to all sections of the local community," he explained.
