The Animal Care Department of Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority organized its fourth awareness meeting as part of the "My Services are Excellent" series. The meeting was held in association with the Agricultural Environment Division. The meeting included awareness lectures aimed at enlightening workers who spray pesticides on private animals to get rid of ectoparasites. The lecture was given in the presence of veterinarians and focused on the best practices to ensure the health of animals and human beings.
In the first lecture titled "The Best Method for Getting Rid of Ectoparasites," Dr. Mohamed Shams Al Din Syed Ahmed spoke about the linkages between awareness drives and the Authority's policy on adopting best practices in veterinary services. He spoke in detail also about ectoparasites and their definition, the time required for removing the pesticide from the animal and the maximum care needed for removing all the parasites as per local and international regulations.
Engineer Rami Hamad Abu Hamad gave the second lecture, in which he spoke about spraying the pesticides. He explained the best methods of spraying the pesticides and the precautions needed to take before, after and during the process.
In the meeting, the workers were also called upon to distribute awareness leaflets on ectoparasites and the protection of people at the farms. The leaflets are to be distributed while the workers visit the farms for spraying the pesticides.
