Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority Participates at Agriculture Marketing and Rural Development Workshop in Taiwan
Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority (ADFCA), representing Abu Dhabi Government, participated at Agriculture Marketing and Rural Development Workshop that was held in Taiwan from 18-31 May, 2011, and was organized by the International Cooperation and Development Fund in Taiwan.
Representing ADFCA, Eng. Hamdan Misbih Al Nuaimi from the Agriculture Sector, introduced to the participants the UAE�s strategies and efforts in agriculture marketing and rural development in the country, which include farmers support programs.
ADFCA�s presentation highlighted as well the authority�s role in developing the agriculture sector in the emirate of Abu Dhabi, through raising awareness campaigns which target the farmers in addition to seeking to transform the overall agriculture concept in the emirate to be based on sustainable agriculture based on natural environmental resources without affecting farmers� financial resources, and amending the old agriculture plans which drained a large portion of the emirate� water supplies.
The workshop witnessed the participation of 18 Asian countries, and the audience was interested in the UAE�s participation and addressed many questions about the agriculture sector and the environmental challenges in the UAE.
The workshop contributed in experiences exchange in agriculture between many countries, especially in activating the Agricultural cooperative associations, and the role of scientific researches stations in sustainable development and using farming best practices, in addition to agriculture product quality programs and focusing on raising production and increasing the self-sufficiency percentage and enhancing food security.
