Around 4500 Visitors at the Second Agricultural Exhibition in Al Ain

The second Agricultural Exhibition, organized by Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority (ADFCA) during February 22 -25, 2012 in Al Ain under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister of the UAE, Minister of Presidential Affairs and Chairman of ADFCA, attracted around 4500 visitors from all walks of life.

The event concluded with an award ceremony in which a number of individuals and companies were honored for their performance excellence in various aspects of farming as well as for constructive participation in the exhibition.

The honoring of excellence at the exhibition was done in several categories, taking into account the diversity of activities within the agriculture sector. HE Mubarak Al Mansouri, Executive Director of the Agriculture Sector at ADFCA and the Chairman of the Organizing Committee for the exhibition and Mohamed Jalal Al Reyaysa, Director of Communication and Community Service at ADFCA, gave away the prizes for the winners at a special ceremony at the exhibition on the last day of the event. They also honored the companies that sponsored or supported the event.

The first, second and third prizes for the best model farm went to farms owned by Obaid Khalifa Al Jaber Al Marri, Talib Abdullah Matar Al Rumaithi and Ebtisam Obaid al Balouchi respectively; whereas the prizes for the best animal farms went to Ahmed Saeed bin Murshid al Ka�bi and Abdullah Mohamed Murad respectively. The awards for the best firms in animal and veterinary production in the year 2011 went to Al Ain Farm for Cows and Al Samman Poultry Farm for cow farms and poultry farms respectively.

The following are the other awardees and their categories: Fish farms (Al Jarf for Fish), Butcheries and slaughter houses (Al Aali Slaughterhouse in Abu Dhabi), Clinics and hospitals (The German Veterinary Clinic), Pharmacy (Scientific Veterinary Centre), Veterinary Depots (Eurofeet Veterinaries), Laboratories (Al Aman Veterinary Laboratory) and Fodder (Hurs and Cors Company). Al Foah and Agthia, both strategic partners for the exhibition, Al Dhahra Agriculture, First Gulf Bank, Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank, all strategic sponsors for the event, and Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), Saif & Bin Harmal Drilling Establishment, Bin Ham Electrical and Mechanical Company, Al Wathba Company for Central Services, all supporting sponsors, were honored during the event.

Mohamed Jalal Al Reyaysa, Director of Communication and Community Service at ADFCA, said the credit for the success of the second edition of exhibition would go to organizations that sponsored and participated in the event. "But for their support and involvement, we would not have been able to pull it off as well as we did. We thank them for their enthusiasm and commitment," he added.

The exhibition saw participation of various agriculture and animal wealth companies and organizations from the private and public sectors. Part of the Authority�s efforts at bringing about comprehensive farming reforms in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi for sustainability, environmental protection and better market orientation of agriculture, the exhibition�s first edition had taken place in Liwa two years ago.

Spanning over 7000 square metres, the Exhibition hosted several pavilions to showcase breakthrough agricultural technologies and systems such as irrigation and chemical and organic fertilizers. Other stands hosted during the show focused on agricultural equipment and machineries, post-harvest produce treatment, local produce, date palm stand, and livestock products. On the sidelines of the exhibition, several activities such as symposiums, awareness programs, cultural contests and some plays also took place. In addition, an auction to sell some breeds of sheep and goats during the Show attracted active popular participation and sales.
