ADFCA team accompanies Dubai Municipality delegation in the field visit to markets located in Mushrif Mall

A team comprising officials from Control Sector at Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority has accompanied a Dubai Municipality delegation in a recent field visit to the markets located inside Mushrif Mall.

The Dubai Municipality (DM) delegation, comprising Khalid Mohammed Sharif, Executive Director of Food Control Department, Jumaa Khalifa Al Fuqaie, Director of General Maintenance Department  and other food control officials were on a mission to study Abu Dhabi's experience in food control field.

The DM delegation toured fish, meat and vegetable & fruits markets in the Mall along with ADFCA  team that included HE. Mouza Suhail Al Muheiri Executive Director of  Control Sector, Basel Al Jabiri, Director of Food Control Division and other officials.

During the tour, the visiting delegation was briefed on the procedures and  latest technologies applied on various processes related to food products including receiving, sorting and displaying at the sale units. They also reviewed the mechanism of functioning as well as tools & equipments in the storage house of the market implemented to enhance the food storage for maximum extended periods without compromising the safety and product quality. The advanced technology and systems used in the storage house to manage odor and the safe disposal of waste were also came under the close study of the visiting delegates.

On this occasion, Mohammed Jalal Al Rayssi, Director of Communication & Community Service Division said ADFCA has been keen on tracking each and every markets and food facilities functioning in the emirate of Abu Dhabi in order to ensure that they meet required food safety standards and criteria, in its efforts to make sure that only safe food is served to customers.

He said, ever since the inception, ADFCA has been in the fore to create fruitful cooperation with various public and private sector entities that concerned with food, agriculture and livestock.

"The visit of Dubai Municipality delegation comes out of ADFCA's keenness on strengthening channels of cooperation between the likeminded organizations in the efforts to escalate food safety levels in various emirates through facilitating sharing of knowledge and experience" he added.

From its part,  the management of the Market praised ADFCA's key role in supporting and executing technical supervision over the implementation of safety requirements in various markets dealing with fish, meat and fruits & vegetable, in tune with the internationally approved  best practices.
