ADFCA inspects confectionaries and pastries in Al Ain ahead of Eid-Ul-Fitr

Restaurants Control Unit at ADFCA's Al Ain Branch has carried out an inspection drive on confectionaries and pastries operating in Al Ain as part of ensuring safety of food products ahead of Eid celebrations.

During the inspection which was held during the evening time yesterday, ADFCA inspectors covered a number of facilities that prepare and sell sweets and pastries and checked if they were abiding by food safety rules and regulations set by the authority.

The inspectors watched closely how the workers handle food during the preparation, cooking and displaying and inspected the equipment so as to check whether they are conforming to the approved standards. The officials also educated the staff and workers how to keep products in certain temperature levels that are required and suitable for various types of food.

The inspection covered total 51 facilities in which 13 were given notices and 12 others were served with warnings for their shortcomings. ADFCA officials found 19 facilities to be abiding rules and regulations perfectly while they imposed fines on three facilities for breaching food safety rules.

In this connection Eng. Thamer Al Qasimi, Acting Director of ADFCA Communication & Community Service Division said: - "ADFCA is keen to ensure a safe and healthy atmosphere ahead of Eid celebrations. As consumers flock in large numbers to confectionaries and pastries on and before Eid days, we want to make sure that these facilities abide by the rules and regulations perfectly"

"Breaching the laws or compromising in the standards may lead to serious safety risks that could mar the celebrations. Facilities as well as individuals should take extra alert in this regard" he added further.

He urged public to be more responsible while buying food items during Eid days and to inform ADFCA immediately if they notice anything that may pose a risk on public health & safety.
