Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority has won Excellence Award for implementing Geographic Information System with the objective of enhancing shared geo-spatial data for all ADFCA sectors.

H. E. Mohammed Al Nuaimi, Executive Director of Corporate Service Sector received the award during GIS conference 2015 held in Dubai in which ADFCA participated as a strategic partner with Abu Dhabi Systems & Information Centre (ADSIC) and presented a brief on the phases of GIS implementation and the experience in sharing geo-spatial data with other external entities.

In this regard Mohammed Al Nuaimi said, "ADFCA has put much efforts to ensure maximum utilization of the possibilities the Information Technology brings in. We believe, the new award comes as a honor to these efforts as the newly implemented Geographic Information System will contribute substantially in the planning and decision making in all ADFCA sectors.  The geo-spatial data sharing facility provided by the GI system will further boost up the efforts exerted to attain sustainable growth in all sectors."

According to him, in the agricultural field, the decision makers will be able to determine and select agricultural models and crops that suits Abu Dhabi best, with the help of analysis of data provided by the system.

It is noted that various forms of data available in the system such as Fodder Supply map, Agricultural Map and Pest Spread Map have already proved to be a key factor in transforming ADFCA's services to be delivered with more efficiency, accuracy and coordination.

The comprehensive and interactive geo-spatial data pool activated by ADFCA's GI system has facilitated the data sharing among government agencies, which is considered to be a big step forward  in the journey to accomplish the strategic objectives set by Abu Dhabi government.
