The Animal Production Division of Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority (ADFCA) organized an awareness meeting with women breeders and owners of animal farms in Madinat Zayed in the Western Region.  The meeting, which was the first of its kind, revolved around the fecundity season for sheep and healthy management of herds and comprised lectures by ADFCA experts.

the event was aimed at raising awareness among animal breeding women and those who own animal farms. ADFCA believes in the role of women in society and their ability to spearhead dynamic projects with great economic gains. We also held another meeting in Ghayathi with animal breeders and farm owners. Of course we have decided to pay special attention to women owners and breeders in view of the importance of their role in social development.

In his speech on season of fecundity among sheep, Dr. Faisal Al Baraka of the Kindness Department stressed the importance of preparing the animals for the fecundity season to enhance the average birth rates.  "It is important to give proper care to the male and female sheep of the herd during the season. It is important to give equal attention to both males and females so the overall rate of fertility remains high," he added.

Dr. Hamid Rajab, in his lecture on Healthy Herd Management," spoke about the various requirements at the farm, such as structures, nurseries, forage and so on.  He stressed the importance of proper medical care, the need for quarantining the sick animals and regular contact with government veterinary clinics on the developments.
