ADFCA honors Agriculture Census team members
 

Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority (ADFCA) has honored the team members of 2014 Comprehensive Agriculture Census during a function held at the authority's headquarters.

H.E. Rashid Al Shariqi, Director General of ADFCA, H.E. Butti Ahmed Al Qubaisi, Director General of Statistics Center-Abu Dhabi, Nasser Mohammed Al Junaibi, Acting CEO of Abu Dhabi Farmers' Service Center and other high officials were present during the function.

The project which started in January 2014 and continued till December last year is aiming to accomplish one of ADFCA's strategic objectives- to create an updated data-base for agriculture sector that covering areas of plants and animals.

During the two-year time span, the team has surveyed all types of holdings in Abu Dhabi, Western Region and Al Ain and collected data related to each farms and holdings accurately.

On this occasion, H.E. Rashid Al Shariqi, Director General of ADFCA said: "ADFCA has been always keen to materialize our vision to achieve sustainability of food sector through protecting and continuously developing food resources and supporting farmers and animal breeders with giving a thrust on food safety and security"

"Given the high importance of the food in our lives, we leave no stone unturned in order to find out ways to support and sustain food production. The agriculture census was a great endeavor in this regard and we have much delight to honor the team members today for their dedication and continuous efforts throughout the stages of the project" He said.

He also praised the support and continuous effort exerted by the Statistics Center- Abu Dhabi being a strategic partner in the project as well as the direct and leading involvement by the Farmers' Service Center in the process for survey and census.

From his part, H.E. Butti Ahmed Mohammed Al Qubaisi, Director General of Statistics Center- Abu Dhabi commented: "The 2014 agriculture census project is considered as one of the big programs of Abu Dhabi emirate in the area of agriculture. Both the organizations, ADFCA and SCAD, worked hard, based on an effective partnership, especially in the area of determining the methodology of census, designing the questionnaire and training field researchers.

He stressed the strategic importance of food sector and the need to keep an updated data-base for the sector in order to support the planning and decision making by providing accurate and detailed data.
