GITEX 2015: ADFCA presents its GIS based services

Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority (ADFCA) has presented its advanced Geographic Information System based services during the activities of GITEX 2015 which is going on at Dubai World Trade Center attracting visitors from across the world. The authority is participating in the event being part of Abu Dhabi e-Government stall which comprises some 26 government entities in the emirate.

Commenting on this, Ali Yousef Al Saad, Acting Director of Communication & Community Service Division at ADFCA said the authority has been always keen to be abreast in modernizing its services in line with the directives of the wise leadership of Abu Dhabi.

"The GIS Implantation comes as the latest example of ADFCA's commitment towards being in sync with government vision to modernize the way government entities deliver services to general public.  It also serves the mission of developing a sustainable agriculture and food sector, and proactively getting ready for the expected challenges accompanied by the fast growing economy in the emirate" he said.

Putting more light on ADFCA initiatives, Omar Al Nuaimi, Director of Information & Communication Technology Division at ADFCA said the authority has been successful in introducing GIS and the spatial dimension in ADFCA business and operations, by spatially enabling ADFCA services.

"Using the location-based, interactive and analytical maps, ADFCA has developed several applications that would serve the business across all sectors, and at all levels of  operations, analysis and decision support, leading to great deal of benefits starting with optimizing and better planning of field operations such as inspection, agriculture and veterinary services, effective resource utilization, enhancing collaboration with the stakeholders, increasing community awareness, helping in risk planning and emergency response, optimizing facilities management  and finally augmenting and enhancing decision-making by executives by providing analytical and interactive maps and dashboards" he elaborated further.

Stressing the point that GIS technology and geospatial data are now seen as strategic business resources providing powerful information products, he said the applications launched in ADFCA proved to be saving time and effort, to a great extent, for both employees and public.

Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority is participating in GITEX for the third consecutive year in order to showcase its technology based services and to have direct communications with experts and specialist from across the world.
