ADFCA partakes this year’s Liwa Date Festival

Asserting its integral role in the efforts to protect the agricultural heritage of the country, Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority is participating in the ongoing Liwa Date Festival 2016 in the Western Region.

Being a strategic partner and an active member of the organizing committee, the authority has set up an attractive stand in the popular event organized annually under the kind patronage of H.H. Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Presidential Affairs and Chairman of ADFCA.

In the stand, the public can view a variety of agricultural crops produced at the research stations under ADFCA such as dates, honey and lemon varieties. Book-lets and other publicity materials describing about the scope and work of ADFCA in the area of food safety, agriculture and livestock, its agricultural projects in addition to some kind of diseases that affect the plants and crops such as Red Veevil are available at the stand.

Saeed Jasim Mohammed, Acting Director of Communication & Community Service Division at ADFCA said the participation reflects its strategy to ensure active involvement in the local events and community-based initiatives which can be utilized for raising public awareness on a variety of topics that fall under food and agriculture sectors.

He said the festival will serve as a big platform for farmers in the country to get hands-on knowledge in increasing the quality of their produce as well as switching in to the latest technologies and advanced methods while giving a thrust on the importance of protecting the agricultural traditions and heritage.

It is noted that, apart from the agricultural side, the ADFCA stand also will educate the visitor on a number of issues and themes related to food safety and animal wealth.
