ADFCA spends 45 hours for awareness activities in last January

Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority (ADFCA) spent more than forty five hours for various kind of awareness activities targeting school children during last month.

The authority has carried out 21 activities including lectures, workshops and field visits in order to disseminate food safety awareness among young generation.

While the lectures mainly covered topics such as understanding food labels, smart shopping, food poisoning, food products and additives and basic food safety knowledge, workshops offered students a good opportunity to get trained on various subjects related to food safety such as handwashing and preventive actions to be taken while handling food.

During the four field visits conducted last January, the students toured Baniyas Research Station as well as Al Kuwaitat Research Station in Al Ain in addition to touring Al Mushrif Fish Market in order to closely watch stages of food production, preparation, sterilization and how the food safety principles and rules are being adhered in each stages.

It is noted that, apart from inspections and other related control activities, Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority is keen to keep variety of activities in its year plan in order to spread awareness on food safety, targeting various sections of the society including students, teachers, business owners and general public.
