Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority has spent more than 55 hours last month (July) for awareness activities that include lectures, workshops, campaigns and field visits.

In July, the lecture programs were mainly organized in connection with the seventh Summer Forum convened by the Family Development Centers in various parts of Abu Dhabi. Several food safety issues and themes were covered during these lectures targeted women and children. Attendees were enlightened on topics such as food poisoning, safe shopping, food labels, food and additives and hand washing in the programs held in Abu Dhabi City, Shahama, Al Wathba, Ghayathi, Al Marfaa, Madinat Zayed, Al Shwieb, and Al Hayer.

During the report period, ADFCA conducted food safety awareness lectures at several maid recruitment agency offices given the fact that the employees and the maids they recruit have a big role in maintaining safety of food.

As the summer is its peak, ADFCA shared several awareness messages to all of its employees which helped them to handle and store food in the best and safe ways. In addition, as the season is also of travels and trips, the management distributed traveler's food safety guide to the employees and the visitors.

It is noted that, during summer ADFCA is keen to maximize its efforts to spread food safety awareness among public. For effective awareness dissemination the authority utilizes local events and initiatives in order to reach out to various sections of the society in its efforts to keep the high levels of food safety in Abu Dhabi emirate.
