Workshop on safe handling of meat in Al Ain

Being part of efforts to ensure food safety and in preparation for the holy month of Ramadan, Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority (ADFCA), the official food control body of Abu Dhabi emirate has organized recently a workshop in Al Ain city on safe handling of meat products, targeting several stakeholders in this field.

Supervisors, workers and drivers at various meat supply establishments and ware-houses in the city participated in the workshop convened by Control Sector of ADFCA.

Safe and healthy practices for workers in handling meat products throughout the production chain was one of the major topics covered in the program.

Safe practices to be followed while transporting meat products, requirements for accessories, vehicles, methods to monitor temperature levels, best and safe practices during the storage in the ware-houses were also given much highlight in the sessions.

The workshop also deliberated on System No.3 implemented by ADFCA which is related to tracking and recall of products that are not conforming to the specifications and on the mechanism to effectively execute the recalls.

ADFCA is learnt to be giving much importance to this category of establishments given their pivotal role in handling huge amount of meat products especially during Ramadan.

In coming days, the authority is expected to reach out to more categories which are operating at various phases of food chain in order to ensure that only safe and healthy products are sold in the markets in the emirate.
