ADFCA organizes World Water Day activities at Delma Mall

Joining with world community to observe World Water Day on March 23, Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority ( ADFCA) organized an awareness program at Delma  Mall in Abu Dhabi with a range of activities.

Along with the awareness activities, drawing and painting competitions for children as well as some cultural performances were held as part of the event . ADFCA officials had decorated the premises with boards and posters carrying awareness messages for public view and reading.

On this occasion, Mohammed Jalal Al Rayssi, Director of Communications & Community Service division at ADFCA said: " ADFCA is organizing such an event to contribute in spreading the message to conserve water resources in the country by promoting rationalized use of water and preventing from extravaganza of consumption which poses serious threat to the water and food security"

 He said , ADFCA has been keen on  the conservation of the available water resources in the emirate, by adopting latest high quality technologies in the irrigation  especially when it comes to green house farming, aquaculture and hydroponics.

 "We have given high priority to the principles of sustainability and have put much effort to translate them in to the initiatives and  priorities included in our strategic plan. For example, one of the main priorities was to reduce water consumption by 40% in the agricultural sector,by the end of 2013" he added.
