ADFCA organises lecture for staff on importance of reading food label

In cooperation with Department of Health at Abu Dhabi, the Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority (ADFCA), represented by its social service arm- Auwn Initiative, has organised awareness lecture entitled " Food Label. How to Read and Understand It." In the presence of a number of the authority's employees, the lecture, which was delivered by the nutritionist, Nour al-Shattri, came within ADFCA's initiatives aim to serve the community and bring happiness to its members. The lecture further reflected ADFCA's keenness on educating employees about the best practices that maintain their health and safety.


During the lecture, the employees were introduced to methods and guidelines for reading the product label as well as ways to determine the suitability of its ingredients, such as salts, fats and proteins, to the consumer. Reading the food label ensures that consumers will have good and balanced nutrition. It will enable the consumer to avoid wrong practices that cause obesity and cardiovascular disease.


The lecture, which witnessed a great interaction among the attendees, was followed by a Q&A session. The participants exchanged their views on several issues related to nutrition. They also stressed the importance of the lecture in directing their healthy behaviors and habits to the best.


Organising such lecture is a confirmation of the importance of health awareness in the workplace. It also reflects ADFCA's commitment to ensure the safety and health of all its employees, through cooperating with several health institutions to organise health programmes aim at educating its staff on ways to prevent diseases. The authority's activities aim to motivate its employees to adopt a healthy lifestyle for themselves and their families, as well as raising their health awareness.
