Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority (ADFCA) has ordered administrative closure of Acacia Restaurant and BBQ operating in Al Fayda area in the city of Al Ain for not complying with the health and food safety standards set forth by the authority.

Thamer Al Qasemi, ADFCA Spokesperson said that the closure comes after the management of the restaurant had failed to better the situations in the facility and eliminate things that were causing violation to food safety rules. He added the authority's inspectors had given the management notices and then warnings to end the violations before the authority moved to pull the shutters down.

"The restaurant would remain closed as long as the violations were in place and it could only be allowed to resume its activity after improving its condition," Al Qasemi said.

According to Al Qasemi, the reasons that led to the closure of Acacia Restaurant were the presence of insects and expired food inside the facility.

"The move came in line with ADFCA's efforts to strengthen the fundamentals of food safety in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. It confirmed the authority's strict control applied by our inspectors," he stated. Al Qasemi pointed out that all food establishments are subject to the authority's periodic inspections, to ensure compliance with all food safety requirements.

ADFCA Spokesperson urged public to report any violations detected in any food establishment by calling 800555, to take the necessary action by the authority's inspectors, to ensure the safety of all citizens across the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.
