In line with its preparations for Eid Al Fitr, the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) has launched a large-scale inspection campaign on restaurants, popular and central kitchens, bakeries, pastry and nuts shops, roasters, sweets stores and delivery vehicles in Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, and Al Dhafra. The campaign aims at verifying those facilities' readiness to receive customers during Eid Al Fitr and ensuring the safety of foods in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

By carrying out this campaign, ADAFSA seeks to ensure the compliance of those facilities with health standards and precautionary measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19, thus ensuring the implementation of best food safety standards in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi.

The campaign focused on educating food handlers about the best health practices and requirements while handling food. These include heat treatment of foods, traceability and recall system for raw materials, proper storage of foods at appropriate temperatures, and proper ways for handling, preparing, and displaying foods.

Furthermore, the campaign featured several field visits to monitor violations in some facilities. Moreover, ADAFSA's inspectors have distributed educational and guidance leaflets to consumers, owners of food facilities and food handlers, to ensure providing safe foods to all consumers. ADAFSA also affirmed its readiness to respond to all food notifications and reports of food poisoning cases around the clock during Eid Al Fitr.

ADAFSA stressed the importance of maintaining personal hygiene, adhering to preventive measures, implementing guidelines included in food handlers guide on all food-related operations within food facilities, to ensure the safety of food offered to all consumers.

ADAFSA urged the public to report violations they observe in any food facility by contacting Abu Dhabi Government Contact Center on 800555.
