The world's leading-edge agriculture innovations will be showcased in Abu Dhabi from 9 - 10 March 2020 at the Global Forum for Innovations in Agriculture (GFIA) at Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) that will shape the future of farming and food production in the UAE and around the world. Held under the patronage of H.H Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister of UAE, Minister of Presidential Affairs and Chairman of Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Abu Dhabi Agriculture & Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA).

GFIA, in strategic partnership with ADAFSA supports the UAE's drive to encourage the adoption of new technologies in the agricultural sector and advancement of facilitating global agribusiness trade in the nation for future food security and to support the UAE Government's aim to be first in the Global Food Security Index in 2050 of which efforts in the past year alone have seen the UAE leap ahead 10 places to 21st in overall ranking.

GFIA 2020 is considered to be the biggest turnout of agri-tech suppliers in desert greening and drylands agri-food production ever assembled in the Middle East who will showcase solutions that over time will change the face of food production in the region and raise the value of business opportunity in the agri-food sector exponentially in Abu Dhabi.

Mouza Suhail Mohammed Al Muhairi, Chairman of GFIA Organizing Committee said: "Enhancing facilitation for agribusiness and sustainable and efficient ways of food production is a key objective of GFIA which provides a significantly important role in bringing together world leaders in innovation here to Abu Dhabi to drive advancement for our agricultural sector. Innovators from around the world will be showcasing new technologies and leading-edge solutions across indoor farming and hydroponics, livestock and animal production, date palm production, aquaculture, sustainable crops, and apiculture. Their participation supports the UAE Government focus on take-up and development of relevant and innovative technology and encouragement of companies with R&D capacity to put down their routes in the UAE. In recognition of these global leaders of innovation in Abu Dhabi, we are also honored to hold the annual GFIA Innovation Awards which provide industry-leading recognition for technology leaders."

Leading suppliers and innovation technologies participating at GFIA 2020 include: Netland from Finland who will showcase its unique turnkey vertical farm solution with an advanced high-volume solution and comprehensive automatic function which deliver water saving capacity of 95%; Date Palm Development from the UK a specialized company producing date palm plants through a unique tissue culture process; GODAN providing global open data for agriculture and nutrition making it available, accessible and stable to deal with urgent challenges of ensuring world food security; Hydroplenti from USA producing innovative vertical hydroponic towers systems for arid and semi-arid regions; OxyGuard from Denmark leader in providing water quality measuring, monitoring and control equipment for aquaculture industry; and Topcon Positioning Middle East and Africa FZE from Japan a world leader in the manufacturing of precision agriculture solutions for positioning and smart infrastructure.

The GFIA Innovation Awards, will recognize innovations which will improve global security for the best innovations in the categories of indoor farming, animal production, aquaculture, crop production, date plan production and best innovative from a start-up company.

Participants from over 100 countries who will exhibit their products and projects promoting sustainable food production to more than 18,000 visitors expected to attend the two-day conference and exhibition. GFIA is co-located alongside Cold Chain Expo, the first event dedicated to refrigeration technology and services specifically created for the food and agriculture sector; VIV MEA the largest exhibition in the region dedicated to solutions for poultry production and for the third consecutive year ApiArab Expo the only internationally-focused professional apiculture event across the whole of the MENA region which will host a major symposium coordinated by ApiMondia the International Federation of Beekeepers' Association.

The GFIA conference will witness a line-up of high-calibre and innovative speakers and offer thousands of visitors a powerful mix of keynote addresses, panel debates, innovation presentations and Q&A sessions.
