A delegation from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN visited the Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority (ADFCA) to explore the scope for further cooperation and to discuss global food issues. The delegation was headed by Director-General Jos� Graziano da Silva.
The delegation was welcomed by HE Rashid Mohamed Al Shariqi, Director General and a number of executive directors and directors. The delegation was briefed about ADFCA's various initiatives and activities for raising the bar on food safety in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. The briefing for the delegation touched upon the efforts of the Authority for the conservation of natural resources, especially water, and for the improvement in livestock management and the veterinary services.
The delegation was also briefed about the efforts at optimizing the use of irrigation water in farming as well as other sustainability measures. The delegation appreciated ADFCA's success in ensuring food safety and agricultural sustainability across the emirate. The delegation expressed the FAO's keenness in expanding cooperation with ADFCA since it is one of the pioneering food safety authorities at the global level.
