Abu Dhabi hosts 3rd Arab Beekeeping Association Conference and the biggest beekeeping Exhibition in the region

Abu Dhabi is hosting the third conference of the Arab Beekeeping Association (ApiArab), the beekeeping and honey production exhibition as part of the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Security Week, which will be held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Presidential Affairs, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Authority for Agriculture and Food Safety authority, from November 21-25 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre.

The third conference of the   Arab  Beekeeping Association will be held as part of the Abu Dhabi Conference on Food Safety and Security, one of the most important events of the week, where a group of experts, and academics specialized in agriculture and food security from different countries of the world will gathering.

 The conference of ApiArab raises the slogan of "Sustainable breeding of bees in arid areas - visions for managing who Solving and raising bees in  different regions  in light of climate  change" and will discuss several topics, including   bee management, genetic improvement of honeybees, and mechanisms to enhance the added value of honeybee products in arid areas, also it will organize several workshops to discuss topics related to the development of beekeeping and honey production, including a workshop on ways to manufacture bee poison collection devices,   and Testing  the honey and electing males and queen bees.

The third conference of the Arab Beekeeping Association is attended by a group of beekeeping scientists worldwide, allowing the exchange of information and expertise, and a constructive and fruitful discussion on the challenges faced by beekeepers in arid environments, and ways to overcome them to promote the beekeeping and honey production industry in arid areas and its sustainability.

While beekeeping and honey production is part of the Abu Dhabi government's strategic efforts to support the development of the beekeeping industry in the UAE and the Middle East and North Africa region,where the largest event is the region and the most important destination for all beekeeping and honey production stakeholders in the region, the exhibition provides an important platform for beekeepers  to showcase their products  and learn about the latest technologies in the field of beekeeping. Alongside it will offer an  opportunity for visitors to learn about the different varieties of honey and their quality and buy the best of them, includes specialized laboratories to test the quality of honey, as well as many exhibitors specialized in manufacturing the necessary equipment for the technology of the beekeeping industry and honey production.

The winners of the Sheikh Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi Awards for the development of beekeepers in the Arab world are scheduled to be announced in three categories: best applied scientific research, best innovation, and best practices in the field of bees and honey, where the period of participation in the awards was extended until November 11, 2021. The Arab Beekeeping Association awards, sponsored by the Abu Dhabi Council for Quality and Conformity and based on an analysis of honey samples, are awarded to the categories of best honey for waxy tablets, best liquid honey, and best crystallized honey.

It is worth mentioning that the Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority created an ambitious project to develop honeybee breeding in Abu Dhabi, which is supported by His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs and Chairman of Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority and the project is based on  conducting studies and research to develop the methods  and practices with the aim of spreading it to beekeepers,  supporting  beekeepers and honey production, and stimulating more breeders to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of this sector, based on the fact that beekeeping  and honey production are an aspect of sustainable agricultural development and the food security system, as honey  is  an important food product because of its   benefits  Great food, in addition to the environmental importance of beekeeping to ensure the ecosystem through the contribution of bees to the pollination process associated with the multiplication of plants and trees.​
